Ellesmere

A Cheshire port and town, England, part of the local authority of Chester and Cheshire West is Ellesmere Port (/ˈɛlzmɪər/). Founded at the outlet of the never completed Ellesmere Canal was the town of Ellesmere Port.

It included the hamlets of Whitbyheath and Ellesmere Port. Ellesmere Port had expanded by the mid-20th century, thanks to the opening of the MSC in 1894 and the Stanlow Oil Refinery in the 1920s, so that it incorporated the Hooton, Little and Great Sutton, Rivacre, Overpool, and Whitby villages as suburbs now.

Nearly included into the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, in Merseyside was Ellesmere Port, when that was formed on April 1, 1974. To form a new "West Cheshire" unitary authority, plans which proposed combining the Neston and Ellesmere Port borough with the Royal districts of Vale and Chester were announced.

Ellesmere Port is part of the parliament constituency of Neston and Ellesmere Port at the national level. Located in the county of Cheshire is Ellesmere Port. Located near the interchange of the M56 and the M53 motorway is Ellesmere Port.

In the lower tier Leagues, Ellesmere Port Gunners raced. Founded in 1948 and folded in 1973 was Ellesmere Port Town F.C. In times that are more recent, Ellesmere Port has had a Liverpool immigrants influx.

Ellesmere Port, as part of the 2012 celebrations of Paralympic Torch Relay, played host to the Paralympic Flame. One of the drop-off points for the flame as well as the EPIC leisure centre and the David Lloyd Leisure Centre was West Cheshire campus in Ellesmere Port.
